The B-C Wildfire Service says it’s concerned about fatigue setting in due to the exhausting conditions that crews are facing during this year’s difficult fire season.
Fire operations manager Todd Nessman told a briefing today that the service is starting to see more safety concerns with things like slips, trips and falls.
Nessman says the length of the wildfire season in 2017 was very challenging and this year’s season is expected to last into September.
He says favorable weather this week has allowed crews to make some progress but there are still areas in the Cariboo Fire Centre and the Southern Okanagan that remain a concern heading into the weekend.
