The BC Wildfire service made a statement saying that Fire Crews and equipment made really notable progress yesterday in the process of securing the Flat Lake wildfire on the east side up to Begbie Summit.
The statement also noted that the fire received a little bit of precipitation on Wednesday and yesterday morning and there was only moderate fire activity at the site. But Smoke is still highly visible from Highway 97 and the surrounding areas.
Highway 97 is open once again, as of 10 p.m. yesterday although drivers are being encouraged to watch for speed reduction signs due to crews working on the road. DriveBC will have updates.
The statement also mentioned that heavy equipment was working yesterday to gain access to and establish indirect control lines on the east flank near Davis Lake working from Bullock Lake Road moving northwards towards the Gustafsen guard. Crews will be on the transmission line and patrolling the area.
