Both fully vaccinated U.S. citizens and permanent residents of the U.S will be allowed into Canada for non-essential travel on Aug. 9, and they will be joined by the rest of the world on Sept. 7.
Federal officials announced this earlier today as the country prepares to lower border barriers that were created in order to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Officials say the 14-day quarantine requirement that is still currently in place will be waived by the second week of August for eligible travelers who both currently reside in the United States and have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved in Canada.
This move comes two weeks after the Canada Border Services Agency began to waive quarantine rules for Canadian citizens and permanent residents that are fully vaccinated.
It remains unclear when or if the Biden administration plans to do the same for visitors that are looking to travel to the U.S.
