Some residents of Lytton are back in the Fraser Canyon village today for an unfortunate look at what remains of their community after last week’s wildfire.
Buses carrying residents from as far away as Kamloops, Chilliwack and Whistler headed back this morning.
The federal transportation minister ordered a 48-hour halt to all trains through Lytton in response to concerns raised earlier about trains sparking fires in the drought-like conditions currently gripping B-C.
A fierce lightning storm moved through the southern Interior and southeastern B-C last night and the B-C Wildfire Service says 14 of roughly 24 wildfires recorded in the last 24 hours have been caused by lightning.
