Two terms as a member of Parliament are enough for Jody Wilson-Raybould — the Independent M-P has announced she won’t run in the next federal election.
In a social media post to her Vancouver-Granville constituents, Wilson-Raybould says the disgraceful emphasis on partisan politics over real action has forced her decision.
Canada’s first Indigenous minister of justice was elected as a Liberal in 2015 but was thrown out of caucus in a dispute with the prime minister after accusing him of pressuring her to halt any criminal prosecution of S-N-C-Lavalin, a key employer in Quebec.
Wilson-Raybould was re-elected as an Independent in her Vancouver riding in 2019. Her Twitter post does not hint at her plans after leaving politics.
