Prince George RCMP are currently investigating multiple suspicious grass fires.
On April 23, at 11:30 p.m., police received a report about two small grass fires in the ditch near Cranbrook Hill Road and Otway Road. A witness stated he saw a maroon coloured truck parked on the side of Otway Road and when the truck pulled away there was a grass fire in the ditch. The witness also noticed a small grass fire a short distance away. The witness put out the fires before they grew any larger. Police were not able to locate the vehicle.
The second incident occurred on April 26 shortly before 1 a.m. Fire crews were at Moore`s Meadow with two fires burning in the dry grass and trees. At 2:30 a.m. on that same day police responded to a third fire, this one was located on Kelly Road North Near Ferguson Lake Road.
Constable Jennifer Cooper says in a statement, “Witnesses describe a maroon coloured truck at the locations the two fires were started.”
