Quesnel RCMP have made an arrest after an occupied residence was destroyed by fire in the city.
On February 8, RCMP assisted the Fire Department with a structure fire at 520 Anderson Dr.. When emergency services arrived they found the home full engulfed in flames. Fire investigators determined the fire was arson and had started at the back of the residence.
A suspect was identified during the police investigation. Police also learned the suspect had stolen a laptop and cash from the residence.
On February 10, Bobby Schilling, a 39-year-old Quesnel resident was charged with Arson, Intentionally Causing Damage by Fire to Property Knowing it is Reckless and Theft under $5000.
Schilling was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on February 23.
