Canada suspends flights from the United Kingdom for 72 hours

The Canadian Government has restricted travel to the U.K. for 72 hours after a genetic variant of the virus that causes Covid-19 was identified in the U.K.

Early data suggests that the variant found in the U.K. may be more transmissible, to date there is no evidence that the mutations have any impact on symptom severity, antibody response or vaccine efficacy.

The Government of Canada continues to work with international partners, including the World Health Organization to better understand the newly discovered genetic variant.
