The federal government has announced that Canada will receive up to 249,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine this month.
The vaccine must be approved by Health Canada ahead of it being administered to Canadians. Pfizer submitted an application for review on October 9 and results of the review are expected soon.
Pfizer, the Public Health Agency of Canada with the Canadian Armed Forces, and the Provinces and Territories are working together to finalize preparations this week. This includes training of how to handle the product which must be transported and stored at minus 70 degrees Celsius.
