The arts and culture sector is getting some funding to help it recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.
The province is set to provide $21 million for arts and culture through the B.C. Arts Council. This includes $16 million to expand the Arts and Culture Resilience Supplement and $5 million for the new Pivot Program to help organizations adapt.
The supplement helps existing B.C. Arts Council clients pay for operating costs like rent and utilities, as well as rehiring people who work in the sector. The deadline for this supplement has been extended to January 29, 2021.
The new Pivot Program is aimed at helping arts and cultural organizations adapt to the pandemic. Organizations can apply for assistance to modify their business model and practices. This includes operational changes or buying better equipment for live streaming events. Applications for this program are open until January 4, 2021.
Applications can be made on the B.C. Arts Council’s website.
