Early yesterday morning a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Terrace.
Members were dispatched around 8:10 a.m. A youth was crossing the street at a crosswalk when the driver of the vehicle struck them while it was turning left from Sparks St. onto Walsh Ave.
The driver, youth and multiple witnesses, who saw the event, provided statements. The youth was transported to the hospital to check for injuries, however was released as there were no significant injuries. The driver was served a violation ticket for driving without due care, failing to yield to pedestrian, and failure to produce license.
The Terrace RCMP are reminding everyone to be aware of their surroundings when driving as in the coming months it will be darker for longer periods of time. Pedestrians are also encouraged to wear brighter clothing and reflective material to ensure they remain safe.
