A 34-year-old man had been treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound

On Monday, Williams Lake RCMP were called to a local hospital for a report of a man receiving medical treatment for a gunshot wound. Police then conducted a thorough investigation, speaking with witnesses and examaning the scene at the residence in the 600 block of Winger Rd. in Williams Lake.

Police believe that the wound was self-inflicted and all evidence to date suggests that it may have been accidental.

Williams Lake RCMP Staff Sgt. Del Byron reminds everyone, “that when handling fire arms it’s important to make sure it isn’t loaded.”
