Our interview this evening is with writer, director from the Onondaga Nation, Jessie Anthony, who is set to have her very first feature film premiere at the Vancouver International Film Festival. “Brother, I Cry” is a drama based on Jessie’s own family life, and the constant worry of having a loved one with a drug addiction. She hopes the film starts a broader conversation about addiction, and delivers a message of hope. In our chat with Jessie, she tells us about her life as a child, how she switched gears from acting to writing and directing, and why she wanted to make this movie.
