The Tl’etinqox Government announced a partnership with RBC to deliver Indigenous cultural and historical training for the local branch.
The training was delivered over the past two days, in four hour sessions. The training was well attended by all local RBC staff as well as representation from RBC nationally and provincially. The training was led by Tl’etinqox Government Chief & Tribal Chairman for Tsilhqot’in National Government, Chief Joe Alphonse in partnership with Indigenous Relations Consultant, Chastity Davis.
The training covers important historical topics, such as the creation of Canada in relation to Indigenous Peoples. It also covers Tsilhqot’in worldview, values, ways of being and knowing shared by Chief Alphonse. Chastity covers other topics such as the creation of the Indian Act and the oppressive colonial policies that it includes and the impact these legislative decisions had and still have over Indigenous Peoples lives.
RBC shared many of the reconciliation initiatives that they are leading across the nation and encouraged other employees to get more involved.
