In total, the provincial response to the Covid-19 pandemic exceeds $8.25 billion. In Aug., B.C. saw nearly 250,000 jobs being restored, which is equal to 62 per cent of the jobs lost due to the pandemic.
Premier John Horgan has announced that this plan includes $1.5 billion in economic recovery measures that respond to immediate needs. As well as, $660 million in tax measures and more than $1.86 billion in federal and provincial restart funding for municipalities, transit and education. The plan also includes a 15 per-cent-tax credit on eligible new payroll to encourage businesses to hire more workers.
The plan also includes, another 7,000 new front-line health-care workers being hired, $400 million to revitalize community infrastructure and support local governments and 100 million in infrastructure grants for shovel-ready projects.
