B.C. Transit along with TransLink and other transportation agencies are going ahead with mandatory face coverings on buses starting on Aug. 24.
Accommodations will be made for children under the age of 5 as well as those that can’t wear masks for medical reasons. B.C. Transit recognizes the advice of Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, to wear a face mask when physical distancing is not possible.
While the face covering will be mandatory, the policy is being implemented as an educational step and will not be enforced. B.C. Transit will be working to spread the word regarding this new policy through their Together We Ride Campaign.
B.C. Transit alongside local government partners are working on plans to hand out face coverings later this summer.
