Concerns over low salmon runs prompts fishing closure in the Tankeeah River area

Fishing continues to be a major topic amongst B.C. First Nations as the returns on salmon have been much lower.

Today a letter was sent out by the Heiltsuk Tribal Council and Heiltsuk Fisheries asking that all communal fishing stop in the Tankeeah River area.

In the last two years the returns to the river have been low and reports from this year indicate that again the run will be low.
