Covid-19 has had a massive impact on every corner of the economy. From retail to trucking to farming everyone is feeling the damage it’s causing as many people are unable to work.
Today the federal government announced new measures to help support Canada’s fish harvesters. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced up to $469.4 million for those fish harvesters who cannot access existing federal measures.
The investment builds on the $62.5 million for the new Canadian Seafood Stabilization Fund announced last month. There will be a Fish Harvesters Benefit, a program worth up to $267.6 million, to help provide income Support. Launching the Fish Harvester Grant, this program is worth up to $201.8 million this is to help harvesters who are ineligible for the Canada Emergency Business account or equivalent measures.
As well as an investment of $50 million to help farmers, fish harvesters and all food production and processing employees. You can find all resources needed to not only apply but look at other funds you may apply for on the Government of Canada’s website.
