Early in the morning of Apr. 23, Prince George RCMP received a call from a concerned motorist who witnessed a man jump from the Simon Fraser Bridge in Prince George.
Multiple officers went to the scene and to various points along the Fraser River. Just after 2 a.m., one of the officers saw a male in the river and heard him yelling near the Creekside subdivision, approximately five kilometres from the bridge. Cst. Stu Love entered the river, swam approximately 25 metres to the male and pulled him back to shore. The man was transported to hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries including hypothermia.
Just before 4 a.m. the man passed away. The identity of the man remains unknown and the investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300.
