The issue of gas prices has always been a hot topic in Northern B.C.
With a quick check of gas buddy you can see the gas price in Hazleton right now is 86.9 for regular fuel. Here in Terrace the price is 101.9 and in Prince Rupert it’s 99.9. There have been multiple calls for the lowering of gas prices, even after the Fuel Transparency Act was passed gas prices in the North still remained some of the highest in the Province.
Stikine MLA Doug Donaldson has said that this has been an issue for a long time. He has asked Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General Mike Farnworth if price gouging on gasoline could fall under a new price gouging measure enacted in March.
