Northern Development announced the approval of $1.4 million for eight projects in its service region.
The projects receiving funding include: Prince Rupert Curling Club upgrades, renovations to the Takla Trading Post, upgrades to the McBride Train Station within the village, upgrades to Mackenzie RV Campground, Gitmaxmak’ay Nisga’a Society to install and operate a commercial hydroponics greenhouse system, construction of a guest lodge in the community of Yunesit’in by the Yunesit’in government, Village of Fraser Lake to develop a community drop-in centre and the Dunster Community Forest Society to purchase a small wood products manufacturing shop from the current owner who is planning to retire.
All the projects listed will have a large benefit on local communities. Benefits range from food security, tourism, recreation and helping support various industries.
