The RCMP have given an update in the ongoing enforcement of an injunction order.
Early yesterday morning, the RCMP went out to the 66 km mark. For roughly two hours, attempts were made for the people who placed the barricade there to remove it. The injunction order was read to the people at the scene. Coastal GasLink employees were able to remove the barricade to allow foot traffic to pass through. When RCMP reached the other side of the camp individuals were given the option to leave voluntarily or be arrested for breaching the injunction.
A total of seven individuals were arrested, no force was used and no injuries were reported. The arrested people have been taken to the Houston RCMP detachment where they can agree to be released on conditions or be held for court.
The RCMP’s major enforcement operations have concluded. Once CGL has confirmed the road and infrastructure are deemed safe and ready for full access, the temporary exclusion zone and access control point, that the RCMP has put in place on the Morice West Forest Service Road will be removed. An update will be available when this occurs. The RCMP plan to continue to monitor the Service Rd.
