The Canadian Federal Court of Appeal has released its decision today regarding the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion.
Regional Chief Terry Teegee says , “the cultures and livelihoods of First Nations are at stake and we will be vigilant to ensure the commitments for economic benefits and environmental protections, as well as other conditions, are fulfilled.”
Several First Nations in B.C. sought to overturn the government’s decision to approve the project. The court dismissed the case brought forward and decided the consultation with these First Nations was adequate. Many First Nations in B.C. and in Canada are looking to move towards more green projects and are investing in renewable energies.
