Late Saturday morning the Prince George RCMP received a report of an armed robbery at a jewellery store on the 1600 block of 15th Ave. in Prince George.
A single male suspect entered the store and produced what appeared to be a handgun before making off with a small amount of jewellery. Officers accompanied by a Police Dog Services team went to the area to search for the suspect. The suspect was then tracked to a known residence on 17th Ave. The residence was vacant when police arrived.
Later that same day officers received a report of a theft suspect being held down by members of the public near Highway 16 and Range Road in Prince George. When officers arrived they found a man with a number of clothing items that had been stolen. The investigations have led officers to believe the suspect for the shoplifting is the same person responsible for the armed robbery. Jordan Neil Shaw, 25, has been charged with Robbery, using an imitation firearm while committing an indictable offence, theft under $5000, failing to comply with probation, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace and disguising with intent to commit an indictable offence.
Shaw was remanded in custody and will appear in court later today.
