Around 10 a.m. this morning the City of Prince Rupert’s fire department responded to an incident involving the bunker C fuel tank in the Moresby area.
While the contractor was dismantling the tank a flare up occurred. The fire department was able to address it through the use of foam to douse the flames. No one was injured and there was no release of product into the surrounding environment.
Both the contractor and engineer will be reassessing their methods prior to restarting the work to ensure that an incident of this nature does not occur again.
