Quesnel RCMP say there will be zero tolerance for drivers who don’t stop for school buses.
The detachment says there have been several near misses reported to police, including evidence from a bus dash camera.
Investigators say the driver of a truck failed to stop and drove around the students a they crossed the road December 5.
“There really is no excuse any violators can be providing that would justify receiving a warning for this. As such, enforcement action will be taken when warranted,” says Cpl. Serge Bruneau of the North District Traffic Services in Quesnel.
Failing to stop for a school bus, contrary to Section 149 of the Motor Vehicle Act, is a $368 fine and 3 demerit points.
Police urge anyone who witnesses vehicles failing to stop for buses to contact the Quesnel RCMP at (250) 992-9211.
