As the strike at UNBC enters its 20th day, the faculty association has requested provincial intervention.
The union issued a statement Tuesday calling on B.C. labour minister Harry Bains to appoint a special mediator to help the two sides
come to an agreement.
UNBC Faculty Association Stephen Rader says without an agreement this week, there is little chance of saving the semester for students.
Talks are at a standstill with the Faculty Association claiming that UNBC is making demands that would violate its members’ agreements outside the collective agreement.
About 3,500 students in Prince George and at satellite campuses in Terrace, Prince Rupert, Quesnel, and Fort St. John are affected by the dispute.
It is the second in four years at the university after a two-week strike ended in March 2015.
