Canfor has announced curtailments at all of its BC sawmills.
The forestry giant says all of its lumber mills, with the exception of WynnWood, will take two weeks of downtime from December 23 through to January 3.
The company blames the cuts on the high cost of fibre and weak lumber markets, which it says is making operations uneconomic.
Senior Vice President Stephen Mackie says the company deeply regrets that workers have been hit by multiple curtailments.
Mackie says he knows that 2019 has been a tough year for employees, families, contractors, and their communities.
