A cold and windy week is expected for a large swath of north central B.C.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for The Cariboo, Chilcotin, Bulkley Valley and the Lakes, Stuart-Nechako, and the Central Coast.
Forecasters expect a transition to colder conditions by Tuesday with frigid Arctic air and blustery north winds.
The cold air will mean temperatures in the -15 to -25 Celcius range across the central interior and -5 to -10 degrees on the Central Coast.
Arctic air over the interior is expected to deepen and temperatures are expected to drop by Thursday and Friday.
Environment Canada says people working and spending time outside should dress warmly and in layers, preferably with a wind-resistant outer layer.
Travellers are encouraged to add winter emergency kits to their vehicles which include a blanket, extra clothes, and boots.
