Coastal GasLink is looking at its options after the Agricultural Land Commission rejected a proposed work camp near the Vanderhoof airport.
The District and Vanderhoof and CGL applied to to the commission to use about a third of the 62 hectare property to house workers for the Coastal GasLink pipeline project.
The site, currently home to a barley crop and foresty, would eventually hold up to 900 employees during the peak operations of the pipeline’s construction.
The commission denied the application over the camp’s potential impact on the agricultural use of the land and neighbouring properties.
CGL spokesperson Suzanne Wilton says they are disappointed, but Coastal GasLink is reviewing the decision and plans to work with the District of Vanderhoof to determine next steps.
Coastal GasLink also has a work camp down the Highway 16 corridor at Lejac.
