The Province has picked a contractor for major road and bridge work associated with the Site C dam project near Fort St. John.
Eiffage-Infracon Halfway River Joint Venture will build a two-lane realignment on part of Highway 29 and a new bridge over the Halfway River worth over $104 million.
Creating the reservoir for the dam means that about 30 kilometres of Highway 29 will have to be realigned.
Construction of the Halfway River segment is expected to begin this winter with completion in fall 2022.
The Province says most of the work is taking place away from the current Highway 29 alignment, so traffic disruptions will be limited.
