The City of Williams Lake was represented at this years Union Of B.C. Municipalities. They had some resolutions in mind that they wanted to see endorsed.
Two items came to the forefront including the Rural Dividend Fund being reallocated. As well as looking for a resolution to the current method of crime statistic reporting that often artificially inflates the statistics due to municipal boundaries extending past the city.
This same issue affects other small communities with a similar population base. The resolution to this issue was endorsed to change the way crime stats were reported.
The Rural Dividend fund was also reconsidered. Currently the fund has still been reallocated but the province is working with the City of Williams Lake to see if they are elligible to receive funding from a seperate grant.
All other resolutions can be found through the Williams Lake website.
