The B.C. transportation ministry says Highway 16 is closed in both directions near Burns Lake.
Few details are available, but the ministry says hydro lines have come down across a section of the highway east of the village.
The power lines are down between Tintagel Road East and Stearns Subdivision Road.
Motorists are advised to watch for traffic control.
An update is expected later Wednesday night.
