RCMP in northeastern B.C. say a driver has surrendered to police after two people died Wednesday in what appears to be a hit and run.
The Fort St. John RCMP detachment says police were notified at about 7:00 p.m. that a vehicle hit two pedestrians on 98th Avenue and fled the area.
Investigators say a 26 year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene.
RCMP say a suspect believed to be involved in the incident came to the detachment about three hours later.
Police have seized his vehicle and continue to investigate.
Both of the victims were from Fort St. John, but police will not be releasing their identities or any other details.
