The B.C. Wildfire Service is conducting prescribed burns northwest of Clinton.
These controlled burns will take place in the Crows Bar area. They will cover about 500 hectares between Canoe Creek and the Big Bar Ferry on the east side of the Fraser River.
Burning may begin as early as September 20th, and continue periodically until October 31st. The exact time for these low to moderate intensity burns will depend on the weather and if the site conditions are suitable.
These burns are prescribed to help restore ecosystems and reduce wildfire risks.
The ecosystem restoration project will enhance habitat for wild sheep and improve cattle forage. It’s also going to limit the Douglas-fir tree from moving into these grasslands.
