The Cariboo will share in money announced for salmon habitat restoration and conservation projects.
The Baker Creek Enhancement Society and Nazko Forest Nation will work together to restore critical habitat affected by the Plateau wildfire west of Quesnel.
The collaborative project will also be aimed at preventing further habitat damage from rain and storm events.
The work will receive up to $150,000 in the first year of funding and up to $750,000 over a five-year period.
The B.C. and federal government announced 14 projects under the British Columbia Salmon Restoration and Innovation Fund (BCSRIF).
Nearly $6.2 million will be spent in the first year and almost $30 million over the five years of the program.
