The BC Wildfire Service is bringing in more resources to tackle a fire burning along Highway 37.
An additional 20 firefighters are joining the 40 already on site at the Mehan Lake Fire burning 75 kilometres north of Meziadin Junction and four kilometres south of Bell II.
Officials say the fire grew northward by about eight hectares Friday night and was estimated at 58 hectares by Saturday afternoon.
The blaze isn’t threatening any communities or structures, but it is burning near Highway 37 and creating smoke in the area.
Three aircraft are supporting ground crews and heavy machinery is being brought in to construct fireguards if needed.
The fire was spotted August 7 and is believed to be lightning-caused.
