RCMP are investigating after someone tried to kidnap a female flagger in northeastern B.C.
Fort St John Mounties say the woman was working on Highway 29 approximately 27 kms southwest of Charlie Lake at about 9 a.m. Sunday morning when a van came to a stop nearby.
A man opened the van’s read doors and tried to pull the flagger inside, but she was able to struggle free and the suspect drove off toward Hudson’s Hope.
The van is described as dark blue with silver striping, chrome on the front grille, and barn-style rear doors.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian man standing about 5’9″.
“We’re asking for anyone who was in the Charlie Lake area to try to remember if they saw a vehicle matching this description to call the RCMP,” says Sgt Joelle LaChance of the Fort St John RCMP in a news release. “Your dash cam footage may be able to help us identify the suspect in this crime.”
Fort St John Mounties are working with RCMP detachments in Hudson Hope, Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson, and Grande Prairie to identify the suspect or vehicle.
Police are also canvassing neighbouring properties to speak with residents and obtain any video surveillance.
Contact Fort St John RCMP if you were in the area at the time of the incident and may recognize this van, the suspect, or have dash cam video footage.
