Quesnel is getting a new Junior Secondary School.
Education Minister Rob Fleming, along with District 28 Board Chair Gloria Jackson, and Mayor Bob Simpson made the announcement Friday afternoon.
The province is providing $52 million for the modern facility which will be built next to the current Junior School on Maple Drive.
The new school will included a neighbourhood learning centre with new childcare spaces along with other community programs.
Funding for the project will also cover the cost of tearing down the old junior secondary school on Kinchant Street and the property will revert back to the Province.
The new Junior school is expected to be ready for students in September, 2022.
