Another provincial funding injection will help bolster the northwest against the coming wildfires.
Just over 265 thousand dollars will go to five local governments and First Nations within the Northwest Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.
That funding comes from the second intake of the province’s Community Resiliency Investment Program.
Those in the northwest receiving funding include: the Village of Burns Lake, Glen Vowell, the Lake Babine Nation, Cheslatta Carrier Nation, and Tahltan Nation.
Funding will be put towards mitigating wildfire threats, FireSmart programs, and educational and training efforts.
In total, 129 grants have been handed out through the program so far, for a total of 9.8 million dollars.
