A resident of Wet’suwet’en territory near Smithers has completed the 8 thousand kilometre plus walk across Canada in honour of his Aunt.
Mattew Jefferson began his journey from Haida Gwaii to Cape Spear to bring awareness to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
Jefferson first considered the idea when his 53 year-old aunt Frances Brown went missing while picking mushrooms near Smithers in 2017.
His journey covered 8,275 kilometres, and it’s one he intends to make again, this time on bike.
