High speed internet service is on the way for two Tahltan communities in the northwest.
Thanks to funding from the federal and provincial governments, the Tahltan Nation Development Corporation will bring the improved service to Dease Lake and Iskut.
In total, the two phase project will cost roughly 13 million dollars and take two years to complete.
Over that time, the Corporation will patch in to existing optice strands near New Aiyansh to spread connectivity to the two communities.
There are also plans to further extend services to Telegraph Creek in the future.
Funding to provide the advanced fibre optic network comes from the federal government’s Connect to Innovate Program, announced earlier this year.
