In what is becoming all too familiar, another northern BC sawmill has announced it will be ceasing operations.
Conifex has made an agreement to sell their Fort St James sawmill to Hampton Lumber for roughly 39 million dollars.
In a statement from this morning, Conifex says they do not plan to resume normal operations prior to the completion of the sale.
Once again, heavy supply costraints are being blamed for the shutdown.
Conifex had previously curtailed operations at the mill in early May, along with a partner mill in Mackenzie.
Hampton Lumber, who already operate two mills in the Burns Lake area, say they plan to build a new mill in Fort St James, despite the industry challenges.
