Northwestern representatives were active at the 2019 BC Chamber Annual General Meeting, supporting and submitting a number of key policies.
Members of regional Chambers of Commerce from across BC gathered in Burnaby late last month for the 3 day event.
One policy, submitted by the Smithers Chamber and supported by their Prince Rupert counterpart, hopes to give more power to rural communities to help them support employment.
That policy outlines a program which will help support small businesses, and fill labour shortages in the retail and restaurant industries.
Submitted by the Kitimat Chamber and support by those of Prince Rupert and Houston, the Northwest BC Resource Benefits Alliance was another policy of note.
That policy highlights the importance of revenue sharing and distribution agreements between Northwest communities.
Policies that pass through and are accepted by the BC Chamber will be sent to the provincial government for review and possible implimentation.
