The BC government has declared a Level 3 dought rating in the Fort Nelson area.
The province says below-normal stream flows and signs of drought in smaller streams have prompted the declaration.
Level 3 drought conditions call for voluntary water-use reductions by residents, industry, farmers, and municipalities.
If that doesn’t maintain water flows above critical levels, the government could regulate water usage by doing things like temporarily suspending water licences or short-term water approvals.
