In an effort to take further advantage of the area’s natural beauty, Quesnel is launching their Riverfront Development Planning project.
While heavily used for recreation, Mayor Bob Simpson says the confluence of the Quesnel and Fraser Rivers and Baker Creek, has not been fully utilized.
With City Council focusing on both making Quesnel a destination community, and on active transportation, the project aims to maximize the area’s natural beauty.
Public consultations are being held at multiple destinations along the riverfront next Wednesday, with a full list and times available below.
Mayor Simpson says that, while most proposed projects are still viable, all will benefit if the province’s proposed north-south interconnector for Highway 97 goes through.
