Northern Health is continuing efforts to solve the Peace Regions health care worker shortage locally.
Thanks to a partnership between the Dawson Creek and District Hospital and South Peace Senior Secondary School, students are gaining unprecedented insight in to the health care industry.
For the last 2 years, hospital staff have welcomed 8 grade 11 and 12 students to experience life at the hospital.
Students are rotated through multiple roles as part of the program, and as such have been known to come back for summer work and future employment.
Currently, Northern Health is struggling to retain nurses and other health care professionals in the region.
