Residents south of Quesnel finally have more information regarding the long-awaited replacement of a major road.
Large sections of West Fraser Road have been out of commission since a flood washed them away last April.
During a presentation in Quesnel last week, they revealed their preliminary plan to replace the 17 kms worth of road.
According to the plan, it would be far too difficult and expensive to keep the road on its existing alignment.
Instead, the Ministry of transportation has proposed 71 million dollar realignment of the road, along a path which avoids natural hazards.
Drilling work to determine the feasability of the road has already begun and is expected to wrap up this month.
