Despite pressure from the new Alberta government, Enbridge does not intend to restart their Northern Gateway pipeline project.
New Alberta Premier Jason Kenney promised to fight to get the project going again during his campaign.
But CEO Al Monaco says that there isn’t enough commercial support at this point to justify relaunching the project.
Support for the project will likely tail off further should the proposed Bill C-48 banning oil tanker traffic off the west coast goes through.
On top of all that, in order to restart the project, Enbridge would have to go through another NEB approval process.
