Three volunteer fire departments in the Cariboo Regional District will be getting some much needed new fire engines.
The CRD says it will buy the new vehicles for the Kersley, Lone Butte, and Forest Grove departments this year after no public opposition to the 10-year financing plan was received.
The regional district is moving to a ten-year financing plan to purchase the trucks, which CRD Chair Margo Wagner says will ease the impact on tax rates and help the fire department save for future maintenance and replacements.
The regional district says it eventually plans to replace fourteen fire trucks for its department, with a financing decision for the Deka Lake, 150 Mile House and Barlow Creek VFDs to be made before the end of the year.
